Agapornis Fischeri Dilute Green, Blue, Violet Mutations

The dilute mutation in birds results in a visual reduction of eumelanin by 80 to 90 percent. Eumelanin is the dark pigment responsible for the black and brown color of a bird's feathers, and its reduction leads to a much softer color appearance. The result of this mutation is a paler bird compared to the normal variant. This mutation is much sought after as it results in an elegant and less flashy appearance.
The dilute mutation is an allele of the dil locus, which means it occurs at a specific point in the genetic structure that regulates color intensity. This allele brings about significant changes in the distribution and intensity of pigments in the feathers of birds. When a bird inherits this allele from its parents, it will show certain distinctive visual characteristics, although the expression can vary depending on other genetic combinations.
Birds with dilute mutations usually have recognizable physical features, such as gray legs, dark eyes, gray wing feathers, and an overall body color that appears lightly drenched. These characteristics are important visual indicators in identifying birds with this mutation. As with pastel birds, the main goal of breeding dilute birds is to achieve even and consistent color uniformity throughout the bird's body.
It is important not to confuse dilute birds with PastelIno birds, as the two have a very different appearance although they may appear similar at first glance. PastelIno birds tend to have more spotty color patterns and wing feathers that are white instead of gray. These differences are important in the world of breeding and exhibiting birds, as each species has its own standards of appearance that must be met. Therefore, a good understanding of the characteristics of each mutation is essential for both breeders and bird enthusiasts.
As of this writing, the official mutation table lists 14 variants of DIlute Fischeri. All I will explain their characteristics in the column below.
